Making a Wedding Ring
The wedding ring is a symbol of the couple love for each other. Many cultures around the world associate the wedding ring as something that married couples should wear as long as they live. It is also a reminder that only death shall part them. Thus, this matrimonial symbol is always present in wedding celebrations. And from that day on, married couples wear it a symbol of their sacred union.
There are three metals used in making the wedding band: gold, platinum and silver. The best choice for a gold wedding band would be a 14k and an 18k gold ring. A 24k gold ring is not suitable since gold is very soft at this state. An 8k gold ring, on the other hand, does not look good. Traditionally, yellow gold is used but white gold is slowly gaining popularity.
Silver, however, looks great with almost any outfit; thus, it is a frequent choice for elegant dressers. Platinum, on the other hand, is a tough metal, and can withstand damage. It would still look good even after 50 years of wear and tear on the couple's fingers.
Recently, titanium is gaining popularity, and is slowly becoming the preferred metal of choice in making wedding bands. Apart from its greyish colour, titanium can be easily moulded into various shapes. It is also perfect for carvings and engravings. But despite this, titanium is a very durable metal.
Like adding icing to the cake, gemstones and diamonds puts the finishing touch to this matrimonial symbol. For some, diamonds are the preferred stone on top of their wedding band. Diamonds can be cut into various patterns like oval, heart, round or clear. Gemstones usually used in wedding bands include sapphire and ruby.
